The    Department of Art of Xianyang Normal University was established in September 2001. The department has 74 staff members, of whom 65 are full-time teachers, including 11 professors and associate professors, 17 masters (eight master candidates). The following people have been appointed as part-time professors: Mr. Qu Yingchao and Mr. Dou Desheng, nationally famous calligraphers; Mr. Zhang Yulong, national Grade One composer; Mr. Zhang Ali, professor and dean of Film and Television Department of Northwest University. And the following people have been appointed as honorary professors: Mr. Desmond Rochester, PhD of art and president of Art College of Canterbury University; Mr. Jeff Hogg, professor from School of Art of Royal University of Technology, Australia.
